TPC River Highlands hosted the Travelers Championship and has been a showcase for the PGA Tour for many years.
The 70-70-70-70-shot 6,841-yard private course in Hartford, Connecticut has hosted the event since 1984, although named after a different name due to sponsorship reasons.
Its short length, wide fairways and large greens make the course ideal, and over the years several PGA legends have exploited its forgiving nature to incredible scores.

4 = Brad Faxon – 61 (2005)
At the 2005 Buick Championship (now the Travelers Championship), Faxon ignited the scoreboard with a 61, thanks to spotless putters and making the most of Connecticut’s software.
He beat 17 greens in the regulations and hit 11 fairways in his 9-shot final to force the playoffs and eventually beat Tjaart van der Walt to win the championship.
4 = Scott Verplank – 61 (2001)
In 2001, Verplank joined the exclusive 62 club with 61 points, matching another player, the lowest round of the game.
Despite finishing seven in 72 holes, he shared nine birdies with Phil Mickelson and a low honor with Phil Mickelson.
4 = Phil Mickelson – 61 (2001)
In the same match, Mickelson’s Perfect Weekend Championship win at TPC River Heights included 61 wins in the third round.
This round is the old-fashioned Mickelson, his aggressive iron and red hot performance, and he also attacked nine birdies in Hartford.
4 = Kirk Triplett – 61 (2000)
A year ago, in 2000, Kirk Triplett started the low score with a 61-shot 61 Birdies, under par at nine and showing the golf course’s low-scoring potential.
Despite scoring four in the third inning, it was one of the earliest 61 players in modern course history, and Triplett was a pioneer in his excellence in following his performance.
3. PatrickCantlay – 60 (2011)
Patrick Cantlay, who won eight years of his eight PGA Tours, was just 19 years old and was an amateur who shocked the world before his first game of eight PGA Tours and caught a glimpse of what he brought to his 60-round hero rounds at the TPC River Highlands.
The 10-under-par performance is a five-year course record and remains one of the most impressive rounds for amateurs. He illuminated Connecticut with eight birdies and a 20-foot putter.
2. CameronYoung – 59 (2024)
In the third round of the 2024 Travelers Championship, Cameron Young was engraved on the record in a low-high 59-shot par 59 in TPC River Heights.
This is the second low of 60 points in event history and confirms the course’s low score hotspot on PGA circuits. He exposed holes in holes of 3 and 15, and after four holes he occupied four holes in bird-friendly conditions.
1. JimFuryk – 58 (2016)
Jim Furyk’s outstanding 58-Jim Furyk’s lowest point was the lowest single-round score in PGA Tour history.
His 12-under-par lap included 10 birdies and an eagle and hit a staggering 18 greens in regulation. The PGA Tour has 14 rounds and 59 rounds, but no player is equivalent to the incredible finals of the TPC River Highlands.
Despite arguably the best round in professional golf history, Furyk tied for fifth, with Russell Knox defeating three points, who won the 2016 Travelers Championship.
