The Brave appointed Jose Ruiz to do his job

The Brave is appointing relief workers José Ruiz For the assignment, Mark Bowman from MLB.com was reported. This will open an active and 40-man lineup to facilitate Didier Fuentes. Atlanta will call the 20-year-old right wing to start the opening game of the Marlins tomorrow’s series.

Ruiz worked briefly on the Braves’ roster. Atlanta claimed on June 7 that he exempted the Phillies from waivers. During his team’s debut, he worked around walking to a pointless situation. His second appearance was much harder, hitting three innings twice and playing three in one inning during the Rockies’ beating the Rockies on Sunday. The Braves didn’t use him in the Mets’ seat.

Ruiz, 30, now has 8.82 ERA in 16 1/3 of the season. A year ago, he was a fairly effective middle-level reliefer in Philadelphia, with a strikeout rate of 24% on the 3.71 ERA with 52 appearances. Ruiz’s chase and whip rates both took a step back this year, while his walking speed climbed from about 8% to 11.4% of the clip. He also missed a few weeks due to neck spasms.

Atlanta may put him on a waiver this weekend. Ruiz has no choice, so if another team makes a claim, he needs to be inserted into the MLB bullpen. His arbitration salary is 1.225 mm. Ruiz crossed the five-year service threshold earlier this season, so if he is unclaimed, he can elect free agents and keep that salary.
