Trish Johnson appoints MBE – Golf News

Trish Johnson was born in Bristol in 1966 and became the Southwest champion in 1983 and 1984. She was also the Under-23 and Under-21 champion in 1984, and in 1985, she was both the 23 and 21 champions.

In 1986, she represented GB&I in the Espirito Santo Trophy, the World Amateur Golf Championship and the Curtis Cup, who won the highest points.

In March 1987, Johnson became a professional player and won three games in her first year, being named Rookie of the Year on the Women’s European Tour. She won four events and medals of merit in 1990, and then went on to win 19 overall tournaments on the Ladies European Tour.

Johnson won the top ten in 13 European Ladies Tour performance orders in 2000 and 2004, winning the BMW Ladies Italian Open in 2007.

Solheim Cup

From 1990 to 2007, she was a member of the European Solheim Cup team and she also represented England in the 2007 Women’s World Cup golf tournament with Mrs. Dame Laura Davies.

During her high school career, Johnson won six events on the Legend Tour, including three senior women’s golf tournaments – the 2017 and 2021 senior LPGA Championships and the 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Open.

On being appointed to MBE, she said: “I have such a prestigious honor on the moon just because I am lucky to play the game I love! My only regret is that my mom and dad can’t see it here, but I know they will have huge smiles on their faces and proud fists!”
