Brewer Trade Wes Clarke to Astronaut

Brewers trade minor league first baseman Wes Clarke Francys Romero reported that he paid tribute to the Astros. He is not in the winemaker’s 40-man roster, nor will he occupy the roster with Houston. It is not clear what Milwaukee receives in the exchange, although most transactions of this nature are usually used for cash considerations.
Clarke, 25, is the 10th round draft pick in 2021. A South Carolina college catcher who has moved his position to a full-time first base/designated batsman job this year. Clark showed great strength in college and scored 26 home runs in doubles two seasons ago. As a result, he ranked in the ’24 season in the top 20 prospects for baseball America. His stock has since fallen as he has already reached untenable levels of strikeout since he has been promoted to Triple-A Nashville.
With 18 home runs in 87 games last year, Clarke, who hit right, scored .243/.340/.458 in 87 games. It’s a solid enough slash, but he hits outside over 35% of the plates. Clarke’s strikeout rate has slightly improved (30.2%) this year, but has dropped to the .216/.352/.358 diagonal with six long balls in 182 trips to the cuisine. His exit speed isn’t much different than last season, so maybe the Astronauts think he’s a little bit unfortunate about hitting. Clark has a method of adding power and extreme patience, but the swing and missing and limited defense value make for tough features.
