NBA executives expect most draft pick trade activities – basketball insider

NBA executives expect the most draft pick trade event in league history at the 2025 NBA Draft. ESPN’s Bobby Marks reveals information when she appears Today’s NBA.
The main reason for this level of trade activity involving draft picks is one of the main reasons. Several teams in the lottery are expected to be playoff teams next season, so their draft picks are being considered as experienced contributors.
“I spoke with a league executive this morning – he believes we will see the most events in the first round of the year,” Max said.
The only certainty of the draft so far is that the Dallas Mavericks will pick Cooper Flagg.
Even the second pick currently belonging to the San Antonio Spurs may be playing a role. Dylan Harper is widely expected to be selected second.
There are also teams with multiple first-round picks and are therefore working on trade options.
Which teams are in the draft trade portfolio?
As mentioned earlier, even the Spurs reportedly have a conversation about handing over their draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers currently have the third pick in the draft. The Spurs also have the 14th overall pick in the draft.
San Antonio intends to be very competitive next season. Currently, the debate will be centered on Victor Wembanyama, De’aaron Fox and Stephon Castle, and will be debated between having an experienced campaigner or joining Dylan Harper.
The Houston Rockets are the second seed of the season and may also want to use their 10th pick to earn a playoff contributor.
In Atlanta, the Hawks have 13th and 22nd place. They are reportedly looking for options that can be packaged for higher choices.
Currently, the Oklahoma City Thunder are in a similar situation in the NBA finals, with 15th and 24th picks.
Rumors are said that the Toronto Raptors are looking for a star veteran. Promotion almost certainly includes packaging the ninth draft pick they have.
