Golf Business News – USGA expands digital viewing options for the 125th U.S. Open

Fans will experience the U.S. Open with a powerful digital lineup designed to immerse it in an action held at Oakmont Country Club from June 12 to 15.

“We are pleased to offer fans a special level with this year’s tournament through a number of innovative digital products that will surely provide unparalleled fan access to Oakmont Country Club,” said Jon Podany, chief business officer at USGA. “From live streaming and in-depth AI insights to our immersive display mode, golf fans around the world will be able to participate in the U.S. Open.”

The USGA app built by Deloitte is an all-in-one destination for fans, providing functionality and innovation for open wall content in the United States and providing a more attractive digital landscape where fans can immerse themselves in.

In the second year, the app will adopt a ranking “display mode” that provides an immersive view to enhance the way fans enjoy the championship. The rankings of companions will launch live streaming, video storytelling, AI insights, social posts and more! USGA video archives are also available for the first time in USGA Video Central in the USGA app, allowing fans to relive the greatest moments in USGA Championship history with buttons. Fans will also be able to follow the title and individual player scorecards on the lock screen of the iOS phone through live events. The app is for iOS & Android and will also be available on iPad this year.

The Cisco-powered Shotcast will allow fans to follow the U.S. Open with the next generation of digital experiences, where every shot of every player can be. Elevated digital experiences leveraging PGA Tour’s ShotLink technology will be available on the app and on the web and will include dynamic shooting trails, radar data, 3D hole images, green landscapes and video highlights from players and throughout the group so fans can stream live after the turn or catch up with their favorite players. From the first T-shirt to the final putt, the Cisco-powered Shotcast is reimagining how fans experience the championship season.

Work with Deloitte to experience all 18 holes in Oakmont. Learn about the best players in the world will face in the iconic Henry Fownes design that will host the U.S. Open for the 10th time in a dedicated section of the app and web experience. Renovated this year, the updated product will provide a more detailed introduction to Oakmont, including a scatter plot of the entire field on each hole, thereby tracking how the course is played in real time.

Featured group reports by American Express will win all four-round championships on USOPEN.com, USGA App, Peacock, YouTube TV and DirectV, and will be used with three groups on Thursdays and Fridays in the morning and afternoon. Once cut, the content of each stream will be determined for the weekend, but the stream will once again feature mornings and afternoons groups or feature groups and a PAR-3 channel combination.

Streaming coverage is available for free on Usopen.com and USGA apps, while Peacock, YouTubetv, and Directv require a subscription.
