Summer golf is a pleasure for most parts of the United States – more daylight can release afternoon serving time, and warm temperatures make playing at all times a pleasant time.
However, here in Arizona, I have spent most of the decade and summer golf is great for a completely different reason. Very cheap! reason? Not many of us would endure over 110 degrees to play a round of golf, so the course lowers the green fees to the rocks at the lowest price to attract us. it works! This year, my mom and I have a one-time fee of $159, from mid-March to mid-September.
Dawn serve time is the ideal way to avoid the worst in the daytime furnace, but with the school’s return trip, the earliest I could take the course was 8:30 am. By then, it was already 95 degrees and it was rising rapidly. My mom and I have played a few games together this summer and the time period is surprisingly busy at 8-10 a.m. Recently, in many of the groups ahead of us, we chose to play Back Nine first. We sailed in 1 hour and 20 minutes and then jumped a little to finish our first nine. We finished all 18 holes in two hours and 45 minutes and I was shocked to play the best round in over a decade.
What to give? Like most players, I hate slow games and I can’t help but think that my performance is facilitated by the fast pace we are able to adopt. Not having to wait for the players ahead means we can enjoy a steady pace and avoid waiting in the high temperatures of 113 degrees. Quick play is my preferred mode – everyone wins! In a post chat with mom, we discussed our love for quick play and the tactics we used. Given all our recent discussions on how to fix the scourge of slow gaming, I’ve listed our strategies below. Maybe they will help you scrape off for a while – brushstrokes! – Not in the next round either.
*Disclaimer: Most of these tips usually make sense only when riding a bike. But some are also suitable for walkers!
Easy steps to play golf quickly
1.
As someone who plays a forward t-shirt, if I work with a team that plays longer t-shirts, I usually don’t have the ability to go first. So I often end up waiting for those playing partners to bring themselves together to serve. This can sometimes take painful time. There is no reason you can’t hit it right away when you reach the tee. Once a player starts the game, other members of the group are usually motivated to join the gear as well.
2. Write your score on the next tee
Avoid the tendency to record scores on the same green you just finished. Instead, do this when your game partner kicks off the next hole.
3. Don’t be afraid to fall down and walk
I’ve been seeing it all the time: a group ahead is dedicated to shuttle through every player’s ball, playing order, crossing the fairway and occupying forever. You don’t need a playmate’s gallery to watch every photo you’ve made. And, don’t be afraid to put your game partner down on their ball and pick them up after hitting it, and vice versa. Also, if you are within 100 yards, bring one or two clubs while the other drives the cart.
4. Play golf
This is obvious, but it needs to be said. Unless you are in the club tournament and are playing golf, you are ready. If your partner is farther from green than you and always occupying, and you are ready, go! Especially around the green.
5. Invest in distance measurement equipment
For most of my young golf days, I was a walking player when yards were counting. But this is not conducive to quick golfing. That was slow, 6 hours, every time you wait for college golf. I got a GPS golf watch a few years ago and using it has been a game changer. The yardage is immediately made, leading to quick selections and shot executions from the club.

6. Leave the pins
I think that since the 2019 rule changes, I think most people are doing this, but it’s very helpful for quick golfing. Don’t waste time pulling the pin.
7. Putting until you finish
Maybe this is controversial, but I think casual rounds require cleaning, marking and extensive reading of each putter’s ritual. Unless there is visible mud on the ball, just hit it! Look at the putter breakout, but don’t spend a long time reading it. If it’s within five feet or so, just finish and keep moving forward.
8. Practice 1 time – Maximum!
Golf is exhausting, especially when playing in extremely high calories. Don’t waste energy through multiple practices. Get one at most – no problem.
9. Stop looking for golf
If you lose the ball, a scout drive is enough. If it is not visible immediately, please re-kill or drop it. Please don’t waste everyone’s time looking for the ball.
