74-year-old Linn hit 3 aces in one month! – Golf News

74-year-old Lyn Parry has achieved an extraordinary golf feat, scoring no fewer than three holes-in-one in one month – with odds estimated at 1.95 trillion to one!

Lyn, who started playing golf at the age of 58, scored her first hole-in-one about 10 years ago and her second a few years later at her home club, Downes Crediton, on the 13th hole and the 11th hole in the summer.

But after an amazing 31 days in Devon, 2025 is shaping up to be her most memorable year of golf yet.

She explained: “The first ball (pictured below) was on the 3rd hole at Downs Scarditon on the day of our club’s AGM. It was a sunny afternoon and the green had just been polished so I didn’t see it go in. I knew it was close and when I couldn’t see it I was thinking ‘don’t tell me it fell out the back!’. But no, it was in the hole!

“As it was the AGM I was welcome as it meant everyone who came in got a free drink!”

Just 16 days later (Thursday, October 16), she was at it again…

“It was our ladies day this time and we actually saw the ball go in on the 13th,” revealed Lynn (second ace, pictured below).

“We were all looking at each other like, ‘Did that thing really go in the hole?!’ After that there was a little bit of jumping up and down and then a photo was taken, so everyone started drinking again!”

Some people play golf their whole lives without ever enjoying an ace, and on Thursday, October 30, Lyn celebrated her fifth ace and third in a month (shown at the top of the post). But the latest one comes from Downes Crediton…

She admits: “It was a social event with three friends at Tiverton Golf Club and on their 12th hole I hit a ball and thought ‘that feels so good!’. I saw it hit the bottom of the small bank on the right and I thought it might be close. But I told myself it wouldn’t happen in a threesome, which was stupid. And then there it was, in the hole!”

“Sadly it got dark after the round and no one wanted to stay and the girls asked if we could save the celebrations for another day so we didn’t go in – that’s a bit naughty isn’t it?!”

Lin deserves more than just an ace shoutout this year. Her Handicap Index® in May was 19.4, but her summer 2025 performance exceeded expectations.

She added: “The great thing is my handicap is down almost seven shots – and I’m old! That goes to show you’re never too old! It’ll probably go up again soon because it’s difficult, but it’s been a great year!”

When asked about her goals for the tournament, Lynn said: “Let’s face it, I’m probably not going to get better. A hole-in-one is a bit of a bus, but it’s just about having fun for me. We have a great club, a great atmosphere, everyone is super friendly and I just want to enjoy golfing at Crediton for as long as possible.

“You’re never too old. The wonderful thing about golf is that it’s for all ages – I played with a 15-year-old boy at a tournament on Saturday and he played really well and had a great temperament – it’s great to get to know and play with people. My only regret is that I didn’t play when I was younger because I probably would have been better!”

Ahead of a women’s golf trip to Treworth, Cornwall, Lynn added: “Golf has always appealed to me. My late husband used to play and was a great golfer and I used to get tired of listening to golf talk all the time!

“So, I thought I had to get into it and see what it’s like. It’s a great social game and you really learn a lot of self-discipline because you’re against the pitch and the pitch usually wins!

“I’ve made a lot of friends through golf and I guess the message I want to get out to women and girls is that golf isn’t just for lads. Girls can achieve the same thing, so give it a go!”
