Tampa Bay rookie WR named himself in training camp

In 2024, the Buccaneers are the top four offense in the NFL. They tied with the Philadelphia Eagles with 29.0 points per game. In addition, their total offense totals per game are 393.2 yards.

Tampa Bay is expected to have another strong offense in 2025. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are Baker Mayfield’s top offense targets. However, a rookie WR named himself in training camp. First round draft pick Emeka Egbuka was praised by QB Baker Mayfield.

Rookie WR Emeka Egbuka’s early returns positive for Pirates

With the 19th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers selected Ohio State’s WR Emeka Egbuka. The 22-year-old played for the Buckeyes for all four seasons. As a senior in 2024, Egbuka has 81 catches for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. Egbuka is the reception (205) and reception code (2,868) at Ohio State.

Emeka Egbuka is a polishing recipient with extensive experience. On the depth map of Tampa Bay, Egbuka is their WR3. Only Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were ahead of him. They both have been with the team for at least eight or more seasons. This shows how the pirates value Egbuka. He is their future WR, and ESPN’s Dan Graziano said he has been a “teacher camp topic.”

Head coach Todd Bowles said Egbuka’s knowledge is an improvement for most college graduates. This allows him to quickly adjust his career life. In addition, QB Baker Mayfield was impressed by Emeka Egbuka. He said rookie WR is doing “things you can’t teach.”

If the young WR starts to shine like a rookie, he can pass Chris Godwin and become the team’s WR2. Emeka Egbuka quickly adjusted the adjustments during training camp and we will see how he performed in real game action. Tampa Bay’s first preseason game is Saturday, August 9 against the Titans. Expect to see WR Emeka Egbuka get a lot of playing time and reps ahead of the 2025 season.
