Grizzlies’ Zach Edey will miss the start of next season due to ankle surgery – Basketball insider

Zach Edey, a Memphis Grizzlies Center, is expected to miss the start of next season after confirming he needs ankle surgery.
Edey regained his left ankle in an offseason workout earlier this week and needed to stabilize it. There is no estimate of how many seasons Eddie will miss this season.
“After consulting with the Grizzlies and multiple experts, we thought it was the best way for Zach in the long run because it brought him back to 100% of the time, with no limit,” said Edey’s representative for Priority Sports. “He will be fully recovered and better than ever.”
The injury was a factor in Eddie’s first season, missing 16 games. The 23-year-old averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in the 2024-25 game. In the first round of the Grizzlies’ clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder, he impressed with eight points, eight rebounds and seven blocks in Game 4.
It was a successful rookie season for Eddie to be a Jerokee first team. He also ranked fifth in the Rookie of the Year. Memphis picked Eddie with the ninth pick, leading all first-year players in shooting percentage and rebounds per game. He is also No. 4 in the neighborhood.
Their other rookie Jaylen Wells continues to recover from a fractured right wrist, concussion and facial cleft.

Grizzlies continue to do offseason planning
After confirming Tuomas Iisalo as the team’s new head coach, the work is still working to complete the staff.
The Grizzlies interviewed former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin as an assistant role. Dallas Mavericks assistant Jared Dudley was also interviewed, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
Before the Bucks, Griffin was the assistant to the Toronto Nick Nurse when the Raptors won the 2019 championship.
Memphis won the eighth seed this season with a 48-34 record. They were swept by the Thunder in the first round.
