3 Devils for Our Men’s Olympic Orienteering Camp – Hockey Writer – New Jersey Devils
On Tuesday, August 19, U.S. Hockey announced 44 players who received invitations to the men’s Olympic training camp. Three of the 44 players are the New Jersey Devils. Forward Jack Hughes and defensemen Luke Hughes and Brett Pesce received the invitation honors.
Jack wants to redeem
Jack won honors for representing the United States in four national confrontations last season. He recorded an assist in all four games he played in the game. Most importantly, his season ended early due to a shoulder injury against the Vegas Golden Cavaliers on March 2. In 62 regular season games, he recorded 70 points with 27 goals and 43 assists.
Not only did Jack want to redeem his performance in four countries, but his season was abruptly over. It is undeniable that he is a great player. Now, he hopes to have the opportunity to show his greatness to the rest of the world.
Luke’s invitation is a good sign
While all eyes are currently on Luke to see when he will re-sign with the Devil, his invitation to the directional camp feels like a good sign. He had a great season with the Devils, scoring 44 points in 71 games. He has strong offensive games and also has a great performance.
Luke is still a restricted free agent (RFA). He received a qualified offer but has not signed it yet. Since he received an invitation from the Olympic Orientation Camp, it shows that many people have noticed his talent. Tom Fitzgerald may be more inclined to make sure the Devil signs him now.
All 3 Hughes brothers can play together
Although Jack and Luke usually play with the Devil, playing at the Olympics will also give them a chance to play with Quinn Hughes. The three brothers and their respective teams are excellent, and on the ice they can be a deadly combination. Quinn is one of six players originally named by the Men’s Olympics and will also be in the direction.
