2025 Blackhawks Training Camp Q&A, Spencer Cavaliers – Hockey Writer – Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks Training Camp opened on September 18, and boys are important. The player seems to have revenge and return to Chicago. As new head coach Jeff Blashill wants a strong work ethics team philosophy, the design practice is intense.

One of the players to watch is 24-year-old goalkeeper Spencer Knight as he will play the role of starting goalkeeper for the Blackhawks this season, and he has also entered training camp with a brand new three-year contract extension. After practicing, I had a quick chat with him on September 18th. This is a Q&A.

THW: Congratulations on the extension of the contract. How did that come together?

knight: I obviously thought about it all summer and ended up being achieved. I think it’s a good deal for both parties and I look forward to staying here for a few years and growing and growing as an individual as a team.

THW: How is the practice today?

knight: very good. It’s very difficult. This is a lot of people. Everyone is working hard and then up and down on the ice. Good pace. Good intentions. So it was good for the first day and we were just trying to get the momentum through the whole day.

THW: Do you have any first impressions of Coach Blashill and how he manages things?

knight: He is a good communicator. [With] He tells you what’s going on, it’s good. I think he wants us to develop the habit of winning and let everyone be a unit. I think this is a great leader in our group.

THW: How was your summer?

knight: very good. It’s great to relax and go home. It was a long summer, but it was nice to be back and go into hockey mode again.

THW: Do you still have any expectations of yourself as a whole this year?

knight: I mean, you always have your own expectations, but I think you keep these things on yourself. But I just tried to come in and it would be a lot of learning this year and growing as an individual, a team, which is exciting. So, I think it’s interesting.

The knight seems to be locked

During the conversation, my first impression of the Knight was that his voice had such a calm character. He is very focused. I think calm and focus may be a big asset for the Blackhawks this season.

Another thing about the Knight is how he consistently refers to individuals and teams. A large part of team reconstruction is growth. In fact, General Manager Kyle Davidson said on September 18 that in terms of success next year, part of his response was: “I think we are focusing on the continued development and growth of young players.” It also aligns with the Cavaliers’ perspective.

Also, in our conversation, there were moments when I asked him about his life in an exit interview in April, where he described the process of finding a place in Chicago. It was a relaxing and fun moment at the time. He told me that he found a good place, and that was always a plus.

With a brand new contract, the ideal living space and a part of his life he is excited to be part of the coming years, many things allow Knight to have the season he wants, not only himself, but for his team.

For those expecting him to get smartly close to the vest? This will be the storyline of the whole season. It would be fun to review when he performs. There is no doubt that expectations for him this season are high. But if someone can match or surpass them, it’s the Knight.
