10 interesting, insightful Charley Hull quotes – just this week

Charley Hull leads Queens Kroger’s city champion to the final round on Sunday. She is chasing her third professional LPGA Tour champion – the first since 2022. If she finishes the game, it will be appropriate. She has reached the eighth place in the world and she has recently appeared in a battle of battles, including back-to-back runner-ups in the past two games. It’s not an easy task either, with world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul trailing one shot while world No. 2 Nelly Korda being part of the crowded chase bag.
But it wasn’t just the 68-65-67 round that turned around in Cincinnati. It’s also Hull’s whole approach – golf, life, stress, competition – that leads to laughter in the newsroom, worship from the outside of the rope, and in a general sense, maybe Hull might have figured it all out.
Hull has always been a microphone performer. One benefit of her leader: more heading to the newsroom. Let’s buzz and some of her more noteworthy moments this week.
1. ”[My game] Feels good. Obviously, it was like I completely torn half of my ligament on my ankle, so this was in the post-British Open golf game. I had to pull it. They said it might be about nine weeks of recovery time, but I lowered it to three. After last week’s game, I had some pain this week. ”
This is a roller coaster in itself. Hull did it What? ! Reducing nine weeks of recovery to three weeks shows Hull’s determination, love for competition and general impatientness.
2. “I’m still in the air whether I’m going to hit Hawaii or not. I had a problem with my back at the moment when I tore my muscles about two months ago, and I had some cysts in my spine. I felt like a 12-hour flight to Los Angeles was like a five-hour flight, and then a five-hour flight, and I could have done more harm than weeks, we’d try it.
Oh, just back injury, ankle ligament torn, some cysts growing on the spine? It seems like a flight from England to Hawaii should be no big deal, right?
3. “No, to be fair, I haven’t even seen who is on the team yet.
Hull mentioned that she is looking forward to the international championship event of LPGA. The reporter then asked if she had a conversation with any of her teammates. It is safe to say that Hull didn’t pay close attention to the qualified position.
4. “Obviously, when I lifted the box into my car, I fainted on my back and then it was like tearing my muscles. Then obviously tearing the ligaments in my ankle, so it just went one by one. And then kicked a decent golf ball, touching the wood, and it was like an awkward point, you just wanted to play the clumsy guy.
“But it’s life, and at the end of the day, I’m still breathing, so I’m fine.”
A lot of things happened in Hull. But “I’m still breathing, so I’m fine” is a kind of hell to look at things.
5. ”[I did rest on those] I took off in three or four weeks. Although it’s boring. I think it’s actually boring to sit on the couch and do sweet things, do you know what I mean? I always like to do something, and golf courses are what I should have done. ”
One of the special things about Hull is that even though she describes herself as easily bored, she is obsessed with what some consider the most boring exercise in the world. It’s an attractive quality when most of your fans feel the same way.
6. “Yes, it hurts today. Last week was just a lot of golf and then went straight into this week. But pain is just a bloody weakness in the heart, so I’ll be fine.”
Hull is a lot of things, but “weak” is not one of them.
7. I thought, “Yes, yes.” When I was a kid – I always did.
The more she hurts, Hull seems to play better. She thanked for the positive challenge.
8. “Yes, I love it. I just love going to golf. I just love playing golf. It’s not a chore for me. It doesn’t work. It’s just there to love life and I can’t wait to make some birdies on the weekend.”
Hull delivered this after a 68-65 start. It’s always fun to try to track down top players – it’s nice to hear that Hull is so good because of his love for the game.
9.
Hull has a one-stroke lead to Sunday. What kind of pressure does she feel? She said that there are not many so far. At least, that’s what she wants to think of the world. But seriously, what was her way of thinking staring at the pins over the weekend?
10. “I don’t even think that’s going deep. I just hit the ball and play it again and then hit it again, you know what I mean? I think a lot of golfers have trouble, overthinking.
“It’s just a game. Hit the white ball on the pin. Make a birdie or make a par to make a taboo, anyway, just roll to the next hole.”
Philosopher Hull said. We’ll see if she shows up on Sunday. We’ll see what she says after the show.
